Posh Cundy Street flats to be demolished
They’re famously where Charles and Camilla “romanced”, back in the early 70s, after long nights at Annabel’s. Think Studio 54. Except without chins. There are four blocks of gated apartment blocks, plus a council block, in a prime Belgravia plot, built on in the 50s using a space created by a German V2 bomb. After leases start to end, in 2021, owners Grosvenor (the Duke of Westminster’s property company), will clear the site with a view to building a neighbourhood of homes, shops and restaurants which they intend to call “The Cundy Street Quarter”. What other people might call it will be anyone’s guess. More here and here.
