About

The Rat and Mouse (rhyming sl.: house) was founded at the beginning of 2005 by mysterious and pseudonymous writer/publisher Ben Brandt. In less than a year it had become cult reading among both home-movers and the property industry… offering a unique cocktail of property gossip and market news and views, served with a twist of cynicism and wit

The best British property blog out there, whether your interest in property is recreational or obsessional. (The Times, naming the Rat and Mouse as number 1 in its Top 25 Property Blogs list)

If you’re a real property gossip addict, there’s a site which will become the centre of your life: theratandmouse.co.uk… its wealth of intelligence and curtain-twitch information about London property stuff makes it a snooper’s must see. (Financial Times)

The Rat and Mouse has been featured in the Sunday Telegraph, quoted in the Guardian, the Times and the Financial Times, by the BBC (online and on the radio) and Bloomberg, and it’s been consulted by ITN and Business Week. It’s been named one of the world’s top 50 business blogs by the Times, and one of London’s top 50 websites by Time Out.

After a near-catastrophic technical outage at the end of 2016, the Rat and Mouse took a brief hiatus to repair, regroup and now, in the Spring of 2017, it relaunches with a bold new look.
