Market report – ONS, surprise gains but mixed bag
Gains in the east and the south of the UK pushed house prices up 8.4% on the year, August-to-August, according to the latest ONS survey. East of England saw 13.3%; south, 12.2%; London 12.1%. The biggest standout? Newham which profited from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where house prices were up 23.7% on the year. Postcodes nearer to the centre of the capital didn’t do nearly as well as outliers. Camden saw a fall of almost 3%; and Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster managed just small gains. More here.
