Purplebricks in BBC spat

It’s a developing story, with online estate agency giant Purplebricks share price already dropping following just a partial kicking on today’s You and Yours Radio 4 consumer show. The full working-over is apparently saved for BBC TV and Watchdog (BBC 1, 8pm). It looks as if the agency is being accused of continuing to send out misleading claims of savings on email material, despite a curb by the advertising regulator. There’s also (allegedly) an issue with clients being unwittingly signed up to credit agreements with a third party finance company called “Close Brothers”. Tonight’s Watchdog show is also going to include toe-curling undercover footage of Purplebricks making exaggerated claims of their own success. If you want to hear the You and Yours segment, including a response by founder Michael Bruce, go here. (It starts at 15.45.)
